Control Your Blood Sugar. Reclaim Your Life.
A science-backed program to help manage Type 2 Diabetes through targeted exercise and nutrition. Focus on blood sugar control, weight management, and overall metabolic health.
Why Exercise Moves Your Blood Sugar
Your muscles are glucose-hungry. Here's what happens when they work.
Muscle Contraction
When you exercise, muscles contract. This process uses glucose directly without requiring insulin.
Glucose Uptake
Contracting muscles pull glucose from your bloodstream independently of insulin signaling. More activity = more glucose cleared.
Lower Blood Sugar
The result: lower glucose levels in your blood, reduced insulin demand, and improved metabolic function.
The Post-Meal Walk Protocol
A simple, evidence-aligned practice that blunts the blood sugar spike after eating.
Eat Your Meal
Focus on balanced nutrition with protein, fat, and fiber. Include vegetables, dal, or leafy greens.
Walk for 10–15 Minutes
A light-to-moderate pace walk (you can talk but not sing). This can be around your home, outside, or on a treadmill.
Blood Sugar Remains Stable
Your muscles have consumed glucose during the walk. Post-meal blood sugar stays lower, reducing insulin stress.
💡 Pro Tip: Do this after your largest meals — especially if they include rice, bread, or sweets. Your coach will personalize the timing based on your glucose patterns.
Glycemic Index: Indian Staples
How different Indian foods affect your blood sugar. Learn which to emphasize, moderate, and enjoy sparingly.
| Food | Category | Impact on Blood Sugar |
|---|---|---|
| Leafy Greens, Vegetables | Low | GI ~15 · Eat freely. Fill half your plate. |
| Dal / Lentils | Low | GI ~28 · High protein and fiber. Excellent base. |
| Chickpeas (Chana) | Low | GI ~30 · Low GI, high protein. A great staple. |
| Bajra (Pearl Millet) | Low | GI ~54 · Low, and rich in fiber and magnesium. |
| Basmati White Rice | Medium | GI ~58 · Moderate. Smaller portions, then walk. |
| Banana (1 medium) | Medium | GI ~60 · Moderate. Pair with protein or nuts. |
| Whole Wheat Roti | Medium | GI ~62 · Moderate. Pair with dal and vegetables. |
| Ragi (Finger Millet) | Medium | GI ~68 · Nutritious but moderate GI. Be portion-aware. |
| Brown Rice | Medium | GI ~68 · Slower than white rice, but still moderate. |
| Maida Roti / White Flour | High | GI ~71 · Refined flour spikes fast. Prefer whole wheat. |
| White Rice (Plain) | High | GI ~73 · Sharp spike. Minimize, and always walk after. |
| White Bread | High | GI ~75 · Rapid spike. Swap for whole-grain. |
| Sugary Sweets, Desserts | High | High GI · Sharp spike. Keep to rare occasions. |
Note: GI values are approximate (glucose = 100; Low ≤55, Medium 56–69, High ≥70) and shift with variety, ripeness, cooking, and especially what you eat alongside — protein, fat, and fiber all blunt the spike. Exercise + Medication Timing
Understand how movement interacts with your diabetes medication.
Hypoglycemia Awareness
Exercise can lower blood sugar — especially if you're taking insulin or certain diabetes medications. Watch for:
- •Shakiness, sweating, or sudden fatigue
- •Dizziness or difficulty concentrating
- •Unusual hunger or anxiety
Always carry fast-acting carbs (juice, glucose tabs) during exercise.
Doctor Coordination
Our approach is always in sync with your medical care:
- ✓Share your medication list and dosages with your coach
- ✓Discuss exercise plans with your doctor
- ✓Monitor glucose before, during, after exercise
- ✓Report progress & let your doctor adjust meds if needed
