The honest comparison · India 2026
Personal Trainer vs Anytime Fitness
Anytime Fitness is a gym membership with long hours and a lot of equipment. A 1-on-1 coach is a planning service. They answer different questions. Here is what each includes, what we could and could not confirm on prices, and when we would tell you to keep the membership and skip the coach.
Anytime Fitness is a gym membership, and a 1-on-1 coach plans and checks your training. Our live 1-on-1 coaching is ₹8,000 to ₹18,000 a month for 12 sessions with nutrition and check-ins. Pick the membership if you already know how to train. Pick a coach if you need someone to plan and check your training.
The short answer
If you already know how to train and want a gym with long hours, a membership does the job. If you need someone to plan and check your training, a membership on its own will not give you that, and a trainer package at the club is the closest option.
Feature by feature
Side by side
| What you get | YourTrainer 1-on-1 | Anytime Fitness |
|---|---|---|
| Who plans the workout | Yes A coach writes your plan from your history, goal and schedule, and changes it every few weeks. | No You plan your own workouts. A trainer is available as a paid add-on, not part of the membership. |
| Form correction | Yes Corrections in each session, live or on video, and weekly form checks online. | Partly Included in paid trainer sessions. Between sessions, you train alone. |
| Progressive overload | Yes Loads and reps are logged and raised when you can complete 1 to 2 reps beyond the target. | Partly Depends on you, or on the trainer package you buy. |
| Nutrition | Yes Meal guidance for an Indian kitchen, with vegetarian protein targets where needed. | No Not part of the membership. Ask your club what a trainer package includes. |
| Check-ins between sessions | Yes WhatsApp check-ins on sleep, energy, pain and food. | No Not included in the membership. |
| Hours and access | Partly Sessions are booked around your day. There is no open gym floor. | Yes Long hours. 24/7 access is the brand's model, so check your club's hours. This is what the membership is for. |
| Where it happens | Yes At home or an apartment gym in Bengaluru, or online. | No At the club only. Travel is part of every visit. |
| Monthly cost | Partly ₹8,000 to ₹18,000 a month for 12 sessions with nutrition and check-ins. A range, not a fixed price. | Partly Membership fee not confirmed on 21 Oct 2026. Trainer packages are a third-party estimate of ₹12,000 to ₹20,000 a month. |
Membership and package prices change by club and city. Where we could not confirm a price, the row says so. Corrections are welcome on WhatsApp.
Who should pick which
Be honest with yourself first
Anytime Fitness is a fair choice for some people, and we say so below. Pick by what you need, not by the logo.
Pick Anytime Fitness if
- You want a gym with long hours and you already know how to train.
- You will train on your own most days and want space and equipment.
- Your budget is for a membership only.
- You like a large club with machines, free weights and a busy floor.
Pick a 1-on-1 coach if
- You need someone to plan and check your training.
- You want nutrition and check-ins in the same plan as the workouts.
- You have an injury, a health condition or a specific target that needs a plan, with your doctor's advice.
- You want sessions at home, or online when you travel.
Where we fall short
Where Anytime Fitness is stronger, and where we are not
Credit to Anytime Fitness
- Long hours, and 24/7 access is the brand's model. That suits shift workers and early or late trainers.
- Equipment and space to train without booking, at a membership price.
- A trainer package at the club is close to home for some people.
- A membership on its own costs less per month than a 1-on-1 coach, if you do not need planning.
Our limits
- We do not offer a gym floor, machines or 24/7 access.
- We do not sell gym memberships.
- Our sessions cost more per month than a membership alone.
- We cannot promise a result. A plan works when you keep showing up, and we check that with you.
Coach tip
A club membership plus a coach for two sessions a week covers equipment and planning. Ask the coach to write your club sessions into a plan, so you use the equipment with a written load for every lift.
Keep the club, add a plan
A club gives you the room and the hours. Live 1-on-1 online coaching with a nutritionist gives you a plan for your training and your food, form corrections in each session, and check-ins on WhatsApp between sessions.
What the plan has to contain
Equipment does not set your protein or your loads
Whatever you choose, the plan decides the result. In a pooled analysis of 49 trials of resistance training with protein, extra protein gave no further gain in fat-free mass above about 1.6 g per kg of body weight a day [3]. A membership does not tell you that number. A plan does.
What a coach says in a session
“I would recommend you to have something more of protein and fiber, not of carbs and fats.”
Who picks a trainer over a membership

A gym membership suits people who already know what to do. Most people who asked us for coaching did not: 86% of those in India were beginners or had trained on and off, and 69% reported a physical discomfort.

I've never trained properly. Is a gym membership enough to start?
Usually not on its own. Most people who come to us are starting out: in a sample of coaching questionnaires from India (Jun to Sep 2026), 86% were beginners or had only trained on and off, which is why we suggest a trainer before a membership.
What does a personal trainer do that a gym floor does not?
Corrects your form and adjusts for pain. In a sample of our recorded classes (17 Aug to 21 Oct 2026), the coach gave around 10 spoken form corrections in a typical class and asked about pain in over half of them.

Questions people ask before choosing
We could not confirm a published price on 21 Oct 2026. A 2026 magicpin guide estimates Anytime 1-on-1 packages at ₹12,000 to ₹20,000 a month in India, which is an estimate and not a price list. Ask your club for the written package price before you sign.
The India site (anytimefitness.com/en-in) showed no membership fee on 21 Oct 2026, so we cannot quote one. Earlier versions of this page used ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 a month. We have not been able to confirm that figure, so treat it as unverified and check with your local club.
It is worth it if you train at unusual hours and you already know what to do when you get there. Access hours do not give you a plan. If you train alone and get stuck, the hours are not the problem.
It depends on the trainer you are assigned and the package you buy. Ask to see the trainer's certification, how the sessions are structured, and what happens between sessions. A good trainer will show you a written plan with loads and reps.
A club membership gives you equipment, space and hours. A YourTrainer plan gives you a coach who writes and changes your training, checks your form on video or live, and follows up on food, sleep and pain on WhatsApp. You can do the club and the coach together.
Yes. Many people keep a club membership for equipment and train with a coach who plans the sessions. Check that your membership allows outside coaching, and tell the coach which machines and weights you have.
Someone who wants a clean, well-equipped gym with long hours, already knows how to train, and does not need a coach. If that describes you, the membership is a sound choice, and we would rather you train than wait for the perfect plan.

Want a plan, not only a gym key?
Tell us your goal, your budget and the hours you train. We will say whether a membership plus a coach or a coach alone makes more sense.
