Smart Ring Price in India: Oura vs Ultrahuman vs Whoop, Real 3-Year Cost

Two smart rings cost almost the same on day one and differ by roughly ₹21,000 over three years. The Ultrahuman Ring AIR starts around ₹28,499 as a one-time purchase with no subscription. The Oura Ring 4 starts around ₹28,900 plus about ₹599 a month, which compounds to roughly ₹50,000 by year three. Same wrist, same broad sensor set, very different total cost. Almost every review you will read prices these in dollars and skips the compounding entirely.

Why the subscription question matters more than the sensors

All three devices use the same broad sensor class: optical PPG for heart rate and heart rate variability, a skin temperature sensor, an accelerometer, and blood oxygen. They all produce a nightly readiness or recovery score. The hardware differences are real but modest compared with the pricing model difference.

The question nobody asks in the shop

Not "what does it cost" but "what happens to my data if I stop paying". On a one-time purchase the answer is nothing. On a membership device, the hardware may keep running while the insights you actually bought it for stop. Ask that before you ask about sensors.

This is also where the Indian angle actually matters. Ultrahuman is built in Bengaluru, so support, replacement and sizing logistics are domestic. That is a practical advantage when something goes wrong, and it is the kind of thing a US review will never weigh.

What each one is genuinely better at

  • Ultrahuman Ring AIR: the no-subscription proposition, longer quoted battery life, and a lighter ring. Strongest choice if the recurring cost is the thing that would make you quit.
  • Oura Ring 4: the most mature sleep and readiness platform, and the one most people mean when they say smart ring. You are paying a membership for the software, and the software is the reason.
  • Whoop MG: a band rather than a ring, aimed at training strain and recovery rather than general wellness. Its higher tier is what unlocks the ECG and blood pressure features, so check which plan a quoted price includes.

A ring is not a training device

Worth being blunt, because it is the most common disappointment. None of these shows you your heart rate live during a set. They are built for the other 23 hours: sleep, resting heart rate, and recovery trend. If you want accurate heart rate while training, a chest strap remains the most accurate consumer option because it reads the electrical signal directly rather than inferring it from light.

And whichever you buy, the calorie figure stays a modelled estimate. We covered why in why your tracker's calorie count is wrong, where the research puts energy expenditure error around 31 percent walking and running.

How to actually decide

  1. Will you still pay in year three? If a monthly charge is likely to feel like a subscription you forgot about, buy the one-time device. A ring you keep using beats a better ring you cancelled.
  2. Is it for sleep or for training? Sleep and recovery point to a ring. Training strain points to a band. Live in-session data points to a watch or strap.
  3. Do you want the data to outlive the payment? This is the question that separates the two rings, and it has nothing to do with sensors.
