Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits you if

  • You want a coach to plan your strength work, not a PDF to follow alone.
  • You are a beginner, or you are returning to lifting after a break.
  • You have PCOS or thyroid changes, or you are in the years around menopause, and your doctor is involved.
  • You are planning training after childbirth, once your doctor has cleared you.

It is not the right fit if

  • You want a group class with a crowd. Our sessions are 1-on-1.
  • You need treatment for a condition. A coach does not diagnose or change medicines.
  • You want a fixed result in a few weeks. Strength changes over months.
  • You have a new injury or a medical problem that your doctor has not yet seen.

Our own data

Where most women start

  1. Weeks 1 to 2: learn the movements.Squat, hinge, push, pull and carry with a load you control. Your coach checks your videos.
  2. Weeks 3 to 6: build a routine. Two to three sessions a week. The load goes up when the last set feels too easy.
  3. Week 7 on: adjust.Your coach changes the plan around your cycle, sleep, any old injury and the advice from your doctor.

The training science

What the research says about strength for women

Lifestyle comes first in PCOS care, and strength work is part of it.

The Exercise and Sports Science Australia position statement calls lifestyle interventions first-line in PCOS management, and recommends muscle-strengthening on two non-consecutive days a week [1].

Strength training helps bone density in women, but the effect is small.

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of high-intensity, impact and strength training found the effect on bone mineral density was small, most clearly in postmenopausal women [2].

Progression still rules: loads go up when the last reps are easy.

The ACSM position stand says a beginner can start with 8 to 12 repetitions, 2 to 3 days a week, and raise the load by 2 to 10 percent once one or two reps beyond the target can be done [3].

Why strength

Strength for bones, energy and confidence

Strength work helps with the things you do every day: carrying shopping, climbing stairs, getting up from the floor and lifting a child. A routine you can keep through a busy month is what makes the difference, and a plan that fits your week helps you keep it.

Confidence comes from lifting. You learn a movement with a light load, you feel it get easier, and you know what your body can do. The plan is about what you can lift and repeat, not about how you look.

Form and video

Form checked on video, not guessed from a PDF

You record your main lifts, usually a squat, a hinge, a press and a row, and your coach reviews the clips. The feedback is specific: where the knee tracks, how the back holds, when to slow the lowering phase. Early on, your coach also watches a set on video as you go.

If you have an injury or a joint that hurts, tell us at the consultation. We swap movements rather than push through pain.

Questions women ask before they book

No. It is 1-on-1 coaching. You get one coach, one plan and your own sessions on video, not a group class. The plan is built around your goal, your schedule and your health history.

Yes. Most women start with a pair of adjustable dumbbells, a resistance band and a sturdy chair or bench. Progression needs a load that can go up, so your coach will tell you when a heavier set is needed.

For most women, yes, with your doctor in the loop. The 2024 Exercise and Sports Science Australia position statement treats lifestyle, including exercise, as first-line care for PCOS. Your coach plans around your doctor's advice and does not change medicines.

Only after your doctor has cleared you. Postnatal training starts with breathing, core and pelvic floor work before any heavier lifting.

Yes. Ask for a female trainer when you book the free consultation, and we will match you with a coach who fits your goal.

For most women, yes. Your coach adjusts the load and the intensity around how you feel. Tell your coach if your cycle is irregular, and see your doctor for heavy bleeding or pain.

You record your main lifts and your coach reviews the videos and sends feedback. In the first few sessions your coach also watches you move on video and corrects you as you go.
