Price is the selling price on the brand's own store (HealthKart for Optimum Nutrition) on 2 Oct 2026, for the pack shown. Protein, scoop size and servings are from the label on the same page. Where a brand gives servings per pack but not the scoop weight, the cost is still exact and the protein share shows as not stated. Prices change weekly and with coupons, so use the calculator below with today's price. Avvatar, MyProtein and TrueBasics are not listed because we could not confirm their scoop size or servings from their pages on the day we checked.

Why the Cheapest Tub Is Not Always the Cheapest Protein

Three things move the real price: the pack price, the scoop size and the protein in each scoop. Brands set all three, so two 1 kg tubs at the same price can hold very different amounts of protein. That is why this page ranks by the cost of 25 g of protein, not by the tub.

The lowest priced wheys here are blends: AS-IT-IS ATOM PWR Whey XL at 60% protein and Nakpro Impact Whey at 53% protein. They still rank well per gram, which is fair, but every 25 g of protein comes with more carbohydrate and calories than from a plain concentrate. Unflavoured concentrates sit around 70 to 80% protein and are the fairest like-for-like comparison. Flavoured versions of the same whey usually run a few points lower, because cocoa, sweetener and flavour take up part of the scoop.

The big names cost more per gram. MuscleBlaze Biozyme Performance Whey came to ₹151 and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey to ₹161 per 25 g of protein, against ₹98 for the cheapest plain concentrate. Some people find the extra worth it for taste and mixing. If you drink it with milk or blend it into oats, an unflavoured powder costs less and you will not notice the difference.

Check Any Tub in Three Steps

The same sum works on any powder in the shop, including ones not listed here.

  1. 1

    Servings in the pack

    Pack weight ÷ scoop size

    1 kg (1,000 g) ÷ 30 g = 33.3 scoops

  2. 2

    Protein in the pack

    Servings × protein per scoop

    33.3 × 24 g = 800 g

  3. 3

    Cost of protein

Price ÷ protein in the pack

    ₹3,499 ÷ 800 g = ₹4.37 a gram, ₹109 for 25 g

Worked example: MuscleBlaze Raw Whey Concentrate, 1 kg, from the checked list.

Members reach for whey where protein is hardest to find: between meals. That makes the price of one scoop a daily cost, not a one-off, which is why the cost per gram matters more than the price on the tub. Read the food-log study.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest whey protein per gram in India?

Among plain concentrates of 70% protein or more, AS-IT-IS ONE Whey Concentrate was cheapest at ₹3.92 a gram (₹98 for 25 g) on 2 Oct 2026. AS-IT-IS ATOM PWR Whey XL was cheaper still at ₹2.84, but it is a 60% protein blend, so each scoop brings more carbohydrate with the protein.

MuscleBlaze vs Optimum Nutrition: which is better value?

On the prices we checked, MuscleBlaze Raw Whey cost ₹109 for 25 g of protein, MuscleBlaze Biozyme Performance Whey ₹151, and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard ₹161 even in the 5 lb tub. Both brands cost more per gram than the plain concentrates from AS-IT-IS and Nakpro. You are paying for flavour, mixability and brand.

What is the cheapest protein powder in India?

Plant isolates. AS-IT-IS ONE Soy Protein Isolate worked out to ₹1.04 a gram of protein and AS-IT-IS ONE Pea Protein Isolate worked out to ₹1.15 a gram of protein, well under any whey we checked. Soy and pea protein are complete enough for muscle building when you eat enough of them across the day.

How much does one scoop of whey cost in India?

Between ₹68 and ₹155 a scoop for the powders we checked. Scoops differ in size and protein, so compare the cost of the same amount of protein, not the cost of a scoop.

Should I trust a whey protein that is much cheaper than the rest?

Check two things before the price. First, the protein share on the label: protein per scoop divided by scoop size. Second, a recent third party lab test of that product, which several Indian brands publish. A low price with a normal protein share and a published test is a good deal; a low price with neither is a question to ask the brand.

Is whey cheaper than eggs or paneer for protein?

No. At the prices we checked, 25 g of protein cost ₹56 from eggs, ₹88 from paneer and ₹98 from the cheapest plain whey. Soya chunks were ₹5.72. Whey earns its place on convenience and calories, not on price.
